Background Information

Cathey Welch's first massage office was established in Richardson, Texas in March 1994. The idea of opening a massage establishment came to her after she had received massage therapy for a ten year old back injury. Nothing had helped alleviate the pain she suffered periodically. After receiving several massage treatments, she left the office pain free. The following month, she started massage school. While getting the practice up and running, she worked at the massage school as an administrative assistant and an instructor. The office was moved to Plano, Texas in July 1996. With $3000 a shell of a building was transformed into a beautiful office with Native American decor. Five special friends helped put up walls and paint the office.

The business was sold after Cathey decided to move to a small town in Oklahoma. Cathey returned to the business full time in March 1998. The business took a turn in 2007. After almost 12 years at the downtown Plano location, Cathey decided to open another office. Body & Soul Massage Therapy, located at 1209 E. 15th Street opened March 1, 2008. The shop is only a block from the old location. The mission remains the same, to provide the best massage treatment for a reasonable price to the community in need.
